A one day workshop explaining the nuts and bolts of international co-production

Time: 10:30am – 5pm

Why co-produce?
There are loads of advantages to international co-productions; for a start you can pool resources and share risk with your co-producers, potentially accessing film finance in the co-producing country.

How will the workshop help me?
There are many advantages to working internationally but to do so can add complexity to the production of a film. The workshop will demystify the co-production process and focus on the essential ‘need to know’ issues, offering practical help, advice and tips from respected industry experts with years of co-production experience.

Our speakers include an industry accountant and sales agent and a representative from the UK Film Council who will give practical advice about:

  • UK film tax relief and how it works in co-production.
  • National and regional sources of funding in the UK and key partner countries.
  • How to qualify and how to apply for co-production status.
  • Selling your film internationally.

In addition an established producer who has been through the co-production process will share their experiences of:

  • When and why co-production works.
  • Which kinds of films work best as co-productions.
  • How to find the best co-producer for you and your project.

There will also be opportunities at the beginning and end of the day for networking.

Speakers include:

  • Isabel Davis, Senior Executive, International Strategy & Co-production, UK Film Council
  • Carey Fitzgerald, Managing Director, High Point Films
  • Nigel Walde, Film Manager, RSM Tenon
  • Peter Carlton, Head of Warp Europe

Find out more about the speakers via EM Media's website.

Who is the workshop aimed at?
Film producers with at least one feature film production credit who want to refresh or extend their knowledge about international co-production and less experienced producers who want more information on the essentials of co-production and UK and international financing
